Seeing the title of this post one may feel this is about a wife who jokes.

Rather, this post is about jokes about wives.

I feel sad each time I see wives being ridiculed. Most wives sacrifice their lives for their families. Being "housewives", they are married to the house.

Their husbands are "Pati Pareshwar" for them.

But, do they know what their so-called Gods are up to?

What do those husbands say or do behind their backs?

I see a pretty wife dressed in a yellow saree.

What does the husband claim the AI sees?

A yellow snake?

He states- "AI never lies".

By posting this in public, he has allowed others to mock fun in the comments section.

He has disrespected his wife.

How would he have felt if his wife had indulged in a similar representation of him? Would he have liked to see himself as a snake?

What sort of an attitude is this?

The institution of marriage must be based on trust, understanding, and mutual respect. Such behaviour is not expected.

I would not have shared this image, as this is in poor taste and disrespectful to the wife.

But, it has to be shared to inform everyone that this is not okay. 

Your wife is not an object of fun. She deserves better.

Husband must guard and protect her and safeguard her honour.

In Hindi, the word for honour or respect is- "Izzat".

Wives are the honour of families. 

And here we find them being dishonoured.

This is not an isolated case.

See the n number of wife jokes being shared on social media.

Some show the wife as a dictator and the husband as a timid and weak personality.

In the Hindi movie English Vinglish, the wife Sashi, played by Sridevi, craves for "izzat" i.e. "respect".

She expresses it as a "zaroorat" i.e. "need".

Simply need some respect."

Wives need and deserve respect. 

What will happen if the wives know about the jokes their husbands have spread about them?

Won't they feel sad and angry? They will feel unloved, uncared for, and unimportant. They may react adversely.

Then, the husband will have another point to joke about his wife- that he was simply joking & he is not serious, and his wife is taking his joke too far and that she cannot take a joke!
