"You are young and immature!"
When I heard this, I wasn't very sure.
The words had been directed at me-
I was at the receiving end directly.
Should I accept the beliefs of that person?
They don't know; just have an impression!
Youth and immaturity go hand-in-hand?
Many feel this is the reality in our land!

Youth is decided depending on the age.
You cross a threshold & you're out of range!
Without a person's id card, how to guess?
About someone's real age, one is clueless.
Maturity is gauged from one actions-
Those are public & are subject to reactions.
Still wondering which immature acts,
Earned me these terms as my title tracks?!
I'm the youngest today; will be older in life ahead.
I'm still learning; will have a more mature head!
I contemplated for a while & then smiled widely-
"Young and immature"- I accepted kindly :)
Do you believe wisdom and maturity is linked with age and experience?
Have you commented on anyone's age or youth or said they have no sense?

Ha! Immaturity gets stronger the older one gets! Good philosophical poetry, but someone who says something like that to you says more about themselves, their problems and issues than they ever say about you.
ReplyDeleteAnita, it sounds like someone is trying to "put you in your place" (per their judgment.) I like how you processed it through your poem and what you did in the end.
ReplyDeleteWe never stop growing and evolving....at least we shouldn't. There is insight and wisdom within your poem.
ReplyDeleteNo longer young or immature... we still need the input from both young and old.
