There are many traditional products and local goods associated under various categories-

1. Agricultural 

2. Food Stuffs 

3. Handicrafts

4. Manufactured

5. Natural 

India has many registered "Geographical Indications" - GIs under the above five categories.

India has hundreds of registered GIs.

All these products are unique and special.

Some products are famous, others are yet to be known.

CGPDTM- Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks is conducting a Public Poll:
"Most liked Geographical Indication of India".

This is under the DPIIT- Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.

All can participate & select their choice under the given 5 categories.

This GI Registry (GIR) Poll on the occasion of National IP Awards 2022 continues till 9 October 2022.

This is a great chance to learn more about the Geographical Indications (GIs) of India and to choose your favourites.

Odisha has 17 GI products - that are in all the above categories, except Natural. 

That means - There are 17 #OdishaGI under 4 categories (except Natural).

The most famous Odisha GI is perhaps Odisha Rasagola.

Though "Odisha Rasagola" has earned Geographical Indication tag three years ago on 29 July 2019, many are not aware.

Many still think that "Odisha lost the battle/war for Rasagola" to neighbouring state Bengal.

Many still do not know and do not associate Rasagola with Odisha despite age-old ritual and celebration- Niladri Bije, the last day of the Ratha Jatra when Rasagola bhoga is offered by Mahaprabhu Jagannatha to His wife, Devi Lakshmi.

The Foodstuffs category has 1 Odisha GI product- Odisha Rasagola.

Please choose "Odisha Rasagola" under "Food Stuffs" category.

The Manufactured category has 1 Odisha GI product- Ganjam Kewda Rooh.

Please choose "Ganjam Kewda Rooh" under "Manufactured" category.

The Handicrafts category has 12 Odisha products including 9 handlooms and 3 crafts.

The 9 Odisha handlooms include- 

• Kotpad Handloom Fabric, 
• Orissa Ikat,  
• Bomkai Saree & Fabrics,
• Habaspuri Saree & Fabrics, 
• Goaplpur Tussar Fabrics 
• 
  
• & the 4 iconic heritage handlooms shared by UNESCO recently, namely-
• 
  
• Berhampur Patta (Phoda Kumbha) Saree & Joda
• Dhalapathar Parda & Fabrics 
• Sambalpuri Bandha Saree & Fabrics
• Khandua Saree & Fabrics (Note- UNESCO has chosen Kenduli's Calligraphy textile which is- Gita Gobinda Khandua; )

The 3 Odisha craft items under the Handicrafts category are- 

• Orissa Pattachitra, 
• Konark Stone Carving & 
• Pipli Applique Work 

The Agricultural category has 3 Odisha GIs namely-

• Kandhamal Haladi 
• Ganjam Kewda Flower &
• Araku Valley Arabica Coffee

You need to enter your email id and name, and select your choices from the categories of the GI products of India.

1. Food Stuff- To see #OdishaRasagola as one of the "Most Liked Geographical Indications of India", you need to select it under the "Food Stuff" category and make your vote count.

2. Manufactured- #GanjamKewdaRooh is the manufactured GI product of Odisha. It is made from Ganjam Kewda Flower in Ganjam.
You can select it under the "Manufactured" category.

3. Handicrafts- Similarly, under Handicrafts category, you can choose any of the 12 Odisha GIs #vocalforlocal like - Kotpad Handloom, Orissa Ikat, Orissa Pattachitra, Sambalpuri Bandha Saree & Fabrics, Berhampur Patta (Phoda Kumbha), Khandua Saree and Fabrics etc.

4. Agricultural- Under the Agricultural category, the Odisha choices are - Kandhamal Haladi & two others- Ganjam Kewda Flower & Araku Valley Arabica Coffee.

5. Natural- Odisha has not registered any Natural goods as yet as GI.
