Silver Bells

Mira was visiting USA for the first time with her parents.

As they were passing by the countryside, Mira was surprised as she could identify the place.

She made her parents stop by an inn near a tree and greeted the elderly shopkeeper by his name!

Then, Mira excitedly gave directions-

"A left turn from here and we will reach 'Silver Bells'".

"Have you been here before, Mira?" her parents were startled.

Photo Prompt- Bill Reynolds

They reached a dilapidated shed.

The old sign-board read- "SILVER BELLS - Tended with love by Mary De Silva".

No one had cared for Mary's garden after Mary's death.

100 words story for Friday Fictioneers

Inspired by the nursery rhyme-

"Mary, Mary, Quite contrary, how does your garden grow?

With silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row."

  2. Dear Anita,

What a shame no one cared for Mary's garden.

  3. Looks like an old (1963 film) Tamil movie, titled, Nenjam Marappadhillai (The Heart Never Forgets). Here is the Wikipedia link:

  6. Yes, I believe in rebirth and believe there are many documented cases of it. Sounds like it could be both exciting and anxiety-producing to experience it for the young person.

  7. I am a born again Christian, so yes I believe in rebirth. Admittedly a different context than what you are asking about!

  9. A delightful tale. Often when I experience deja vu, I wonder if it's just my imagination or something deeper.

  11. Hello! Alicia here. What a sad state of affairs. It seems as if Mary's dream was lost after she died.
