Tribute To Lata Mangeshkar

The voice can be found everywhere- over loudspeaker, on the radio, in the movie-songs, at the temple... The voice is still around and will remain so for generations, but the artist has breathed her last today.

The 'Nightingale of India', Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, will be missed.

God had gifted her with so much talent and such a wonderful and melodious voice that was capable of doing justice to any and ever song.

Old to new, children or youth, she has been the voice for many.

So many Hindi movie song- over the generations- Mahal, Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee, Who Kaun Thi!, Razia Sultan, Maine Pyar Kiya, Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dil To Paagal Hai...

Her songs had meaningful lyrics and soulful music too that touched hearts.
Other people may lose their names and faces and even voices, but when it comes to Lata Didi, her personality and identity will always be remembered.
"Naam gum jaayega, Chehra ye badal jaayegaMeri Aawaaz hi pehchaan hai, gar yaad rahe."
"Rahe na rahe hum, mehka karenge..."
"Kuch paakar khona hai, kuchh khokar paana hai; jeevan ka matlab to, aana aur jaana hai; Do pal ke jeevan se, ek umra churaani hai..."

Lata ji won many awards from all over the world, including our country's top civilian award- Bharat Ratna.

Lata-Didi, as she was known, was a much-revered and loved member of the movies fraternity.

Like Ekalavya learned archery by creating a statue of Dronacharya, and by constantly practising in front of his Guru, similarly many singers have learned from Lata-Didi's songs and consider her to be their Guruji. I have personally read interviews and heard the aspiring young singers stating this on several platforms. They have been listening to Lata ji's songs and learning a lot.

She was not just a singer; she was an institution.

There never can be anyone like her.

Heaven must be reverberating with her soulful voice there.

May her soul attain sadgati.
