Ailurophobia

Ruby was at the psychologist's clinic.

"I always see a cat in my bookshelf," she said decisively.

"You must believe me. My husband doesn't."

The psychologist nodded.

"And then what happens? Is it a real cat? Have you touched it?"

Photo Prompt- Dale Rogerson

Ruby said, "Tried touching many times though I have ailurophobia! The cat seems like a ghost- it is there, yet not there."

The psychologist had never seen such a case before.

He had visited Ruby’s apartment many times.

He knew that Ruby had no bookshelf in any of her rooms.

She lived all alone.

She did not have a husband.

100 words story for Friday Fictioneers.

  10. These counselling sessions are going to need to continue for a while yet, I think. And I learned a new scientific word. I always like it when that happens. 🙃

  11. Dear Anita,

Terrible fear to have. The only fear I have of cats is what they can do to furniture. ;)

  14. Some great story telling here. It's spooky what she is going through and I hope she overcomes this with the help of her psychologist.

  15. She must have a strong--if unrecognized--desire to get past her fear of cats. Interesting story, especially to my therapist-oriented mind.
