The Invention

My heart was beating fast.

My invention was to be put to test for the first time.

I had spent most of my life working on a time-machine.

Photo Prompt- Douglas M Macllroy

To test it, I kept a mannequin on the machine.

I thought of testing with a dummy before trying on a living-being.

The issue was- the mannequin could not tell me where it had travelled!

If my invention worked, it'd disappear and go forward or back in time.

I turned the power on.

The mannequin disappeared!

I went near the time-machine. It was there; but, no mannequin.

It was my turn next.

  1. Where would I go? Nowhere in that. Much better he takes up a safer hobby like origami

  5. I think the scientist needs a partner to stay back and record the experiment, just in case. Oh I would love to travel and see some of my favorite musicians and artists that have passed on. I'd probably start tampering with the past and cause all kinds of mayhem lol

  7. What if there's a wall or a tank of corrosive acid where you set your coordinates? No thanks!

  8. Dear Anita,

Time travel sounds both enticing and frightening.

  10. No, I don't think I would want to travel in time. Even if you could avoid all the obvious physical hazards, you will never fit into society quite as well as in the time in which you have been brought up and lived.

  12. Oooooooo I would love to know where it went. The dilemma of all good time travellers... have to go yourself to truly know it works.
