Odisha Rasagola earned the GI tag on July 29, 2019. It is the 17th product of Odisha to have earned the GI tag.

Chhena has existed in India much before the Portuguese arrived.

Rasagola was/is never called Khirmohan or Khira Mohana in the Puri Temple. Rasagola is still being called Rasagola and is being offered each year as a continuing tradition from the past many centuries on Niladri Bije, Ratha Jatra. Khirmohan is a variety of Rasagola of Odisha for which Salepur is famous.
