Lockdown Doll

She had made several rounds of the departmental stores during the lockdown.

Her frequent visits did not ensure availability of what she wanted.

The products were always out of stock.

Along with other pandemic essentials, everyone seemed to be obsessed with toilet-paper rolls & tissue-paper!

Some people wanted to buy cart-loads of these!

She decided to highlight this issue.

The “Lockdown Doll” was born.

Lockdown Doll’s white flowy dress represented the demand for tissue-paper; her tissue mask with glitter made a style statement.

Her creativity found ethereal expression.

Also, earned the maximum votes in a contest!

Lockdown Doll bagged the award!

100 words story for Friday Fictioneers.

I was pretty surprised to see people stocking up lots of these tissue products and emptying stock in stores. More in my post- Lessons From Coronavirus #Covid19

Did you exercise self-control while stocking products during the lockdown, or did you do so only after someone's instruction? Do share in the comments below.

  1. I like the idea of the lockdown doll. We didn't go crazy but we never ran out.

  2. I'm not sure I would want a doll made of loo roll, but its one way to highlight the issue!

  3. Sounds like a waste of TP, but it gives people something to do, that's the main thing.
We made sure we were stocked, I sensed where stocks were heading. Nothing insane though.

  5. Too bad there aren't any more Sears or Montgomery Wards catalogs :)

In my understanding, there were people who bought cases of TP only for the purpose of re-selling it, at a substantial markup, to those who needed it badly.

Did you know they're marketing toilets with built-in bidets? Eliminates the need for TP, although I understand the demand for blow-dryers has increased :)

  6. I'm not surprised there appears to be a padlock on the one in the picture!

  7. The sense of living in a dystopia grows stronger every day. But creativity continues to flourish even in unacknowledged ways.

  8. I'm sure when there's a need the doll will be the first to go.
