It Was Time

The Queen had ordered.

The palace was decked up like a bride.

The main door was also decorated with flowers and streamers.

Lamps were getting set with oil and wick.

Roshni's social-work had taken her far and wide.

It was her first visit to that kingdom.

The moment she set foot in the palace premises, the unlit lamps got lit automatically!

There were fireworks in the sky!

It was magical.

The Queen smiled wisely.

This had exactly happened decades ago when she had first entered the palace!

The sky was pink.

She greeted the next Queen!

Her time had come.

100 Words story for Friday Fictioneers & for #MidWeekFlash challenge.

The existing Queen made way for the new Queen (i.e. Roshni) after getting the signs.

Recently, a large democracy conducted elections that has a clear winner. The new President must enter.

When the time comes, everyone must do what they are supposed to and gracefully welcome the verdict and change. What do you feel?

Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated each year to celebrate the triumph of Lord Rama and Devi Sita over Ravana. It highlights the victory of light over darkness & good over evil. (You can read the Ramayana to know more)

Lamps are lit. The Goddess of wealth and prosperity is worshipped on Diwali.

This year, Diwali is on 14th November.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Diwali. May our light forever shine bright.

Take care. Stay safe.

  3. Sadly, there's a lack of magic and graciousness in the other kingdom at the moment. Hopefully this is the start of it returning.

  10. Ugh, I am embarrassed on behalf of our country but at the same time glad we are going to get a better ... queen. I mean Kamala, of course. Blessed Diwali! Also great story. :-)
