When she first set foot in her
parent’s house, she knelt down and kissed the floor.
It was her way to show respect to the home that had seen her
childhood.
After her mother's untimely death, she had gone abroad.
She was back after two decades!
The fragrances reminded her of
departed dear ones.
But, her mother's fragrance was strong.
Memories came alive.

She dreamt that her mother had prepared her favourite meal.
She woke up feeling full!
But, she could still smell the
fresh food!
How was this possible?
She pinched herself.
The sound from the kitchen was real.

ReplyDeleteA lovely reminiscence.

ReplyDeleteMy yarn!
My practical mind takes me to some relative who knew her mother came in and is preparing what is known to be her favorite food. But even if it's only a memory, it's a rather nice way to wake up :)
ReplyDeleteLovely remembrances of life when her mother filled the house. I'm always amazed how strong memories flood in when I smell a certain odor or fragrance. Nicely written!
ReplyDeleteI think the dream feels so real she woke up crying.
