The King was roaming around the streets like a commoner.
He saw the most exquisite
beauty he had ever set his eyes upon.
“Are you for real?”
Her delicate body glowed like a
celestial-being.
He fell in love.
She definitely was fit for a
king.
How lovely his palace will look with her around!

Then, he remembered his Queen.
He consulted her for every
decision!
Not for this one though!
He simply ordered his soldiers
to arrange to safely carry that beautiful lotus to his palace ground.
The lotus bloomed in all her
glory.
The Queen too bloomed and
glowed.

Some beauty withers when we try to possess it rather than just appreciate it

Must be nice to be a king and just take it if you want it. I wonder if the people stormed his palace to get it back!
ReplyDeleteGone are the days when the rich and powerful could help themselves to what they liked. Or are they? You pose a good question with your story.
ReplyDeleteI thought at first it was a woman he was admiring and was happy to find it was the lotus. I don't want to possess beautiful things as much as admire them. Beautiful things are better shared in a public place where all can appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteAll kings are like that, they want to possess any thing good they see, not thinking of his subjects who were enjoying the lotus' beauty before he came along.

Haha I so thought the king was going to cheat. Nice job. Beauty should be shared.
ReplyDeleteI have on occasions thought 'if only'. But we mere mortals can only sigh and make a wish!
ReplyDeleteWhen one is powerful, one takes what one wants...
ReplyDeleteSometimes there are solutions ... hmm ...
ReplyDeleteA nice story in 100 words
ReplyDeleteNice twist in the tail.
ReplyDeleteNice story.
ReplyDeleteThe heart may want to possess, but than it would be plagued by worry in protecting..I think sharing is always the better option ☺️
Well, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, as the good old saying goes.
ReplyDeleteWhatever be the definition one has for beauty, I don't that ever is the sole qualification for anything!
That's a nice win-win at the end, more beauty for everyone. Nice story.
