“Will you
marry me?” he asked her for the second time.
“I have equal
number of chits stating ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ in this jar consisting of 100 chits. You
pick out 50 chits and we will count the number. My decision Yes/No will be
based on the majority chits you pick…”

The last
time he had asked the same question, she had set a different challenge.
Though he
had collected 50 sea-shells of the same size within an hour, she hadn’t agreed.
Still, he
was ready for another try.
Her heart
melted as she saw him pick the chits longingly.
Will it be a Yes/No? What do you think? Do share in the comments below.

I think it's time she stopped teasing him and just said 'Yes'!

Neat story, but who would want to marry someone who made decisions in this way?
ReplyDeleteReminiscent of the cult book The Dice Man nearly 50 years ago.
Poor Guy, so much for his love. The game can continue only till his heart rules over his mind.
ReplyDeleteI think if she doesn't know her own mind on this, he should turn tail and leave
ReplyDeletecoming into the story late, I'm wondering why he even wants to marry her if that's how she treats him?
ReplyDeleteIf he's lucky, the answer will be "no" and he'll find someone who won't play games with his heart.

Dear Anita,
ReplyDeleteIf this is the way she decides things I think his answer should be, "Forget about it."
Shalom,
Rochelle
I agree with Rochelle. That's no way to answer an important question.
ReplyDeleteYes must written at that chit . If that boy heart is full of kindness and positivity .
ReplyDeleteMay be she has her doubts. May be she had experienced bad things before. Instead of getting swayed by emotion, she should decide with a cool head. Because this will a decision for life.
ReplyDeleteMarriage is a game of chance for many, so why not?

What a way to make such a decision. I can see the logic for less important choices, but there is a distinct lack of emotion using this process to answer a proposal of marriage!
ReplyDeleteShowing the shallow characters well with such big decision being handled so flippantly...

What an awful woman, he should ship out, she's a massive destructive tease
ReplyDeleteRobotic woman!
ReplyDeleteFor his sake, I hope it's a no.
ReplyDeleteSeems, she loved him too. *her heart melted*
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't she say yes? what's stopping her?
Poor sap, he is done whether she says yes or no.
ReplyDeleteHe needs a friend to nudge him and say, keep your chits. My love deserves a better recipient...
ReplyDeleteThink it will be yes, hope it's no. Great take anyhow!
ReplyDeleteTricky question!
ReplyDeleteSilly woman is going to lose him if she doesn't quit playing games. What she should have done is write "yes" on each chit. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteI think she shoukd say yes. He would not stay around long if she continues with her silly games.
ReplyDeleteOh! I feel pity for this guy...this is not the way to decide about love. I agree with Rochelle that he should forget about this and neither wait for her Yes or No
ReplyDeleteWow, she is giving him a hard time! I like how you used almost all the items in the prompt.
ReplyDeleteI think if she loves him she should say Yes or get the hell out. Poor bloke.
ReplyDeleteShe obviously cares for him so why does she tease him? Good story.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to round 24 !
ReplyDeleteNice to may welcome you again!
