Up To Date

He liked her.
He never could muster enough courage to tell her that.
The college picnic was in a hill-station.
The ambience was perfect.
That day he had decided to share his feelings.
But, a youth came in his vehicle and she went away with him.

It was the last time he saw her in his college.
She was gone...
WOW: The Last Time He Saw Her
His world was no longer the same.
He felt like a tree that was caged.
He studied harder to keep his mind engaged.
He earned himself a plum job with a posting in Paris.

It was a weekend.
He was walking down on the streets of the city of love thinking of her.
She appeared right in front of him.
Was she real?
His mind was surely playing tricks.
There were snowflakes all around.
The girl at the cafe did look like her.
The boy accompanying her looked exactly like the youth who had taken her away that day from the picnic.
When he heard her sweet voice, he knew he was not dreaming.
It was really her!
She told the youth accompanying her, "Bhaiya, I'm going to the library. See you at home at 5 PM."

The snowfall suddenly stopped.
He could see a ray of sunshine.
The branches of his tree had reasons to stretch out.
He found himself heading to the library.

  1. That ending was perfect. The reader can finish the story, in a way, with their own thoughts. I really liked this poem! Amy

  3. May be he should have explored at the outing in hill station. But would she have responded given she moved with her brother? Most likely she is from an ultra conservative family. May be there would be honour killing if she dared to fall in love outside family arrangement. So many possibilities.
