Forgiveness is a quality of the strong.
Many Hindi movies have shown the importance of forgiveness. Some movies have the protagonists deciding not to forgive. Except for a few examples in some movies, mostly parents or elders forgive their children or youngsters.
Here are 7 examples that illustrate this:
Maine Pyar Kiya -
Hero's father mistreats his friend, the heroine's father. The latter takes his daughter, the heroine, away. It's a question of high and low status. The 'rich' lovelorn hero is ready to work for 'poor' pay to beg for forgiveness.
Does the heroine's father forgive his childhood friend, the hero's father?
Hasee To Phasee -
Heroine runs away from home by stealing her father's money to fund her scientist dreams. After she attains success, she lands up at her home.
Does her father forgive her?
Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham -
'Rich' hero falls in love with 'poor' heroine and decides to marry her instead of the rich girl his dad has chosen for him. His costly love-marriage results in the hero getting ousted from his home.
Does his father forgive him?
Bombay -
'Hindu' boy falls in love with 'Muslim' girl. When they get married, their respective families disown them.
Do their families forgive them?
Jab We Met -
Heroine chooses a boy, whom she wants to marry. She runs away from her family. When her family comes to know, do they forgive her?
Sooryavansham -
Rich, modern, well-educated heroine falls in love with simple, non-educated hero. They get married.
Do their parents forgive them?
Munnabhai MBBS -
Hero runs away from his home and becomes a don. However, he tells his parents lies that he is a 'doctor'- MBBS. They are hurt when they learn the reality.
Do his parents forgive him?
The answer to all the above questions is a resounding YES!
All the parents say YES to forgiveness!
Usually, there is a sweet reunion and celebration with jaadu ki jhappi (magical hug) and family photograph!
Just like Munnabhai MBBS, we too can successfully use magical hugs, as prescribed by his mother, and earn everyone's love.
Parents have great affection for their children and are thankfully willing to forgive and forget.
All is well that ends well with forgiveness.
What do you say? Have your parents forgiven you for your mistake(s)?

“When you forgive, you in no way change the past—but you sure do change the future.” –Bernard Meltzer
Bollywood has preconditioned our mind and heart to acknowledge ''Maaf karne wala hmaesha bada hota hain''. Angst against people always makes us very stuck up in life, so it is better to forgive and move on for the sake of your '' soul peace''.
