Some True Heroes Of Odisha

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

Individuals with disability deserve an inclusive and accessible environment.
In December 2016, "Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016 (RPWD Act 2016)" got passed as the law of the land. This human rights law ensures that persons with disabilities also receive the same civil rights protections as other Indians.
Through Odisha State disAbility Network (OSDN), a unique 18-month Sashakt Campaign has been started in Odisha with the collaboration of over 250 NGOs, networks, government agencies, parents and individuals and several partner agencies. Sashakt Campaign is an endeavour to create awareness about the laws and the rights of persons with disabilities.
An awareness vehicle, aptly named the 'Sashakt Doot' was flagged off on 9th May 2018 in Puri. It travelled over 4100 kilometres across the 30 districts of Odisha. It conducted public meetings and reached thousands of citizens.
The valedictory programme of the Phase-I of the campaign was held on 29th June 2018 at Bhubaneswar with hundreds of participants from across Odisha. Union Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, was also present on the occasion at the Rail Auditorium where the valedictory ceremony was held.

As an invitee to the programme, I felt privileged and humbled to meet many heroes.
In the image above, from left to right- the first-ever quadriplegic lead actor in the cine world, Shri Jitendra Kumar Biswal; Ms. Shefali; multi-faceted ad-agency owner and entrepreneur, Ms. Chumki Datta; and Chief Executive of Swabhiman, Dr. Sruti Mohapatra.
All these eminent personalities have won scores of awards.
Their perseverance and achievements are such an inspiration.
May the strength of their heart and their indomitable spirit continue to motivate all.

It is always great to interact with true heroes. I cherish my time spent with them.
