The artist was surprised to see his creation outside his window.
His latest painting was out there as a canvas in the sky.
He had chosen his theme as colourful buildings with dazzling stars.
They had finally acknowledged his artistic talent!
Imagine giving him a special place in the city-sky... where all could see his art and admire!
He blinked his eyes and pinched himself before passing out...
Hearing a thud, his wife, Maria, rushed from the next room.
"You have been drinking again, old man!" Maria remarked as she picked up the empty alcohol bottles from under the bed.

Dear Anita,
ReplyDeleteI wondered how he could paint the whole outside, the alcohol explains it. Nicely done.

Another frustrated artist turning to the bottle, history is full of them. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteA legend in his own mind, at least while intoxicated.
ReplyDeleteThe mind plays interesting tricks when inebriated... well done on the prompt! :-)
ReplyDeleteA sad contrast between dreams and reality. Well written Anita
ReplyDeleteCheers.. but I guess there's a reason for people drinking...
ReplyDeleteOne would have wished for it to be that easy! There are desires that are elusive though!

You caught me off guard, for sure. Great story, unexpected ending.
ReplyDeletelovely! desire fulfilled in dreams :)
ReplyDeleteAt least he has his moments amidst his drunken stupor.
ReplyDeleteI see very odd things outside my window sometimes! Where's that bottle?
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Keith's Ramblings!
A neat story. Perhaps it's as well that success as an artist takes rather more than an idea and a bottle!
ReplyDeleteA lovely story, a sad story, of dashed hopes and dreams, and a life destroyed by alcohol.
ReplyDeleteA real jolt back to reality. Well done.

City of dreams... pity they were drowned in alcohol.
ReplyDeleteVery entertaining read.
ReplyDeleteCool flash fiction.
ReplyDeleteI was not expecting that ending. I am glad that he thought his art had been acknowledged even if for a few alcohol-addled moments.
