The youngsters were happily clicking selfies with the snow and creating snow sculptures.
Just then the newly-wedded couple, Sam and Rita, came out.
On their faces there was the glow of love and they looked fresh like snow.
"Nobody from our village had ever married a foreigner before..." a wise lady commented.
All eyes accusingly looked at Rita.

A good tale. I'm hoping that in time, the villagers will see it doesn't matter. I was taken by surprise that there are still a lot of people, and young ones, too, in my country who must pick and spit on others to make themselves feel good about themselves.
ReplyDeleteIts never happened before so it must be the newcomer's fault. That mentality is pervasive all around. H.P. Lovecraft wrote horror but he said it right “The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown”.

ReplyDeleteYour story is ominous for the newly-weds. If Rita is blamed for changes in the weather, who knows where retaliation will end? There are still places where a fear of witchcraft is powerful.
