Wearing Indian handlooms attracts a lot of attention. Random strangers stop by to shower gracious compliments- "Very nice costume", "So pretty", "Lovely dress", "Love the pattern/design/print", "I want something like what you are wearing!"...
The cloth/design refers to the Ikat cloth and handlooms of Odisha that I wear most of the time.
The bright colours and patterns and varieties of dress-materials and Sarees steal hearts.
Representing Odisha India in some International events and exhibitions is an enriching experience in which I fall in love with my state and country all over again. The immense respect, love and admiration for our Indian handicrafts and handlooms is deeply touching. India through the eyes of foreigners is interesting and incredible.

Odisha is one state of India. Each of the 29 States and 7 Union-Territories boast of unique handlooms and designs. Such is the beauty of our incredible India. However, proper marketing and promotion is needed to showcase our treasures to the world. The world is waiting to be conquered by Indian Handlooms!
Handloom is just one gift of India.
I feel India is incredible and 'Saare Jahan Se Accha' for many other reasons.
"Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargatapi Gareeyashi"- Mother and Motherland are greater than Heaven.
Everyday I feel grateful and bow with respect to India.
May we all support 'Make In India' and 'Made In India'.
Together we can take her achievements and progress to greater heights.

ReplyDeleteI have lived in Odisha for 4 long years. There is a tremendous appreciation for Samabalpuri saree. I have gifted these beautifully designed sarees to my mother and friends in many occasions.

wow soul-sis...I came to Bhubaneshwar and did not buy a handloom saree. It indeed is so beautiful and i Loved the map where you have shown handloom coming from different parts of the world. I am a big fan of Bandhani from Rajasthan and Gujrat.
