The kiss of life is so sudden & strange,
It implants itself on those in its range!
It just grabs asking no one's consent.
For being alive, we need to pay rent!
Each of us is an object of life's desire!
Kiss & say goodbye only when we retire.
Life kisses us in so many different ways,
Do you shudder or welcome its days?
Our souls aim for salvation- the bliss.
On its path, no one can miss life's kiss.
Many kisses of many lives for you & me,
Our actions are shaping our destiny...
Does the kiss of life take you by surprise?
After each kiss, do you feel silly or wise?
When life kisses, are you taken aback?
Do you willingly or grudgingly kiss it back?

I liked the question at the end about willingly or grudgingly kissing life back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a challenging poem. Have a Happy Easter! K is for Kindle and KDP as you Build a Better Blog. #AtoZchallenge.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with that song, but greatly enjoyed your poem!
ReplyDeleteooooh so glad you posted! Yes indeed, life "kisses" us in so many ways. And the question you're positing here is "can we embrace life" with all its ups and downs? As I've said so often since October 2013, thankful for every day! :)
ReplyDeleteI also have always said, I have no regrets in life. Folks ask how can that be? It's pretty simple really, if I regret one thing that means I wish it had been different. But if it had been different, it would have sent out ripples through life, affecting everything since that moment which means I would not be who I am right now, where I am, etc and the very very good things might never have happened...things and moments I treasure. So, whatever those "kisses" -- sloppy, pecks on the cheek, or tender kisses...all are worthwhile!
Ah, you've got me philosophizing here! :)
Love the theme of kisses alone! The song is new to me however. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteI would say I'm taken aback. But it's nothing personal with life per se. I react like that to all "sudden" physical displays of affection! Hehehe :P
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of that song yet, Anita.
Happy AtoZing!

Kiss of life, like any kiss, is a mixture of both pain & pleasure. Beautiful poem, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThis is poignant and thoroughly kissable. :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Sometimes I kiss back. Sometimes it's the raspberry. Thanks for visiting me
ReplyDeleteI guess we need to enjoy what life has to offer! Great poem!
ReplyDeleteKiss it right back and enjoy it ~
ReplyDeleteI am generous with hugs of life but maybe a bit stingy with the kisses.
ReplyDeleteAfter each kiss do you feel silly or wise? - are the lines I liked best. Great poem Anita.
