As though the
taunts and poor understanding of the onlookers wasn’t enough, the ‘artist’s
block’ also contributed to irritate the artist.
That instant she decided to
create her masterpiece. She was clear that it would be a work of art that would
inspire all. Her innovation would reveal the insight to dare to bare and present
simplicity and truth that’s so rare.

She gave her incredible idea wondrous shape
and filled bright colours from her palette. But, would her work
communicate with the lesser mortals?
After all, it takes intelligence to
recognize intelligence and courage and confidence to uphold integrity!

Integrity is the state of being whole - while it does take courage I don't think you need to be a genius to be a person of integrity. Just my thoughts and interesting concept for the prompt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts.
DeleteTrue that one doesn't have to be a genius to be a person of integrity.
But, conscience is required.
I tried to express an artist's point of view - even if she is true to herself & shares her deepest feelings upholding integrity, others have to be intelligent enough to understand her intentions.
It is like a war within. Hope artists still go ahead & express themselves. Some people might understand what they are trying to say :)
Art is subjective... And comes with different perspectives... Having said that, it really takes a great artist and a passionate audience to interpret in the same way...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. It's up to our interpretation! Sometimes, totally different...
DeleteNevertheless, we all benefit from art & artists & our points of view :)

How intelligently you have woven the story! And so true the message is! Super!!!
ReplyDeleteTc, keep smiling :-)
Thanks for reading & for your nice words, Sindhu :)
DeleteTc! Keep smiling :)
Thought provoking - very good.
ReplyDeletehaha...creativity comes in all shapes and sizes.
ReplyDeleteIt's upto the artist to see it ;)
Great take!
Lovely, thought provoking read Anita. I really enjoyed this. I believe art speaks to the heart and the soul... Intelligence is a quality every human possesses, although be it in different measures. I don't believe that it takes a high intellectual quota for a person to be an artist nor for them to appreciate art, that is not to say that there aren't many intelligent artists & art appreciators out there because of course there are. I have worked with the mentally ill & disabled most of my working life and many of them are/were amazingly talented artists. This is why art, particularly the visual arts, is what I like to think of as a universal language and a therapeutic means for communicating what words can't always express.
ReplyDeleteInteresting slant on Intelligence, I totally agree that art and creativity is subjective.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in years I have suddenly had the urge to start sketching again, so I
bought myself some paper and a set of sketching pencils.

I may be, or not, that intelligent ... i think its all about how something makes us feel, and from there on we individually make up our minds about if something is beautiful or less attractive.
ReplyDeleteCreating art.. is an art in itsself and has, thankfully, countless forms in wich it can be shown, how beautiful is that.

I react to a piece of art on an emotional level. Is my reaction what the artist wanted, I don't know. Does it matter? I think the artist creates, not truly knowing or caring how the audience reacts. I would think that if the artist is too much concerned about how the audience may react that would block his creativity.

Very intriguing narrative. Integrity is vital, I think, but the mundane captures the attention of the masses, so what do I know?
