As she started on her mission,
She knew it would not be fun.
She wanted 'a bottle of happiness',
Laughter, hope & humour to refresh.
She seemed to obey her heart's demand.
She was sick of all the hatred on land.
Is such a bottle available anywhere?
If yes, it'd be rare for anyone to share!
She searched near & far, high & low.
On the way, many shared what they know-
The naked truth is- no riches can purchase,
'A bottle of happiness' that we hunt & chase.
Our hunger for happiness may be a hook,
But, efforts are needed for the happy look!
Piercing gaze & hunting eyes; need to be wise!
The bottle of happiness is here; just recognize!

I love your first stanza. Great.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your maiden visit & comment, Rytha :)
DeleteYour poem already says it ...
ReplyDeleteNo i do not search for it, i know and recognize it, and i am very glad about that too.
I so much, can enjoy the littlest things and feel very happy about it... I believe that what is needed, is right in front of you, if you search for it, you'll never find it because you overlook it.
Have a nice ABC-Wednes-Day / - week

That's great, Melody!
DeleteLet's enjoy what's with us.
Thank you for sharing :)
What a delightful little Ode Anita, so true.
ReplyDeleteI'm never looking for happiness because I'm pleased to say I am surrounded by it.
I feel it and see it every day. I live in a cosy home with my husband and cuddly cat, and my precious family nearby.
I have one daughter and her family living 200 miles away but we see them as often as we can.
You don't need lots of money to be happy, just love and consideration....
Best wishes,
Di,
ABCW team.
Thanks for your appreciation & for sharing your wise words, Di :)
DeleteNice to learn about you & your family.
True that love & consideration are needed.
I think the bottle of happiness is right in front of us if we look. Sometime we search far and wide thinking happiness must be OUT there somewhere, as you said. I like the point you made about riches not being able to buy happiness. So very true!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, Mary! We search and then we realize...
DeleteBeautifully written :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you here, Sanaa :)
DeleteA very true poem, thank you Anita. I don't look for happiness, for then I won't find it at all.Happiness comes and goes and only last very short.
ReplyDeleteWil, ABCW Team
That's right, Wil.
DeleteMay we all have the sense to recognize the presence of happiness :)
Sometimes, we need to stop and appreciate what we have and not seek more.
ReplyDeleteVery true, Linda.
DeleteAppreciation & gratitude is a must.
Brilliantly done. Happiness cannot be purchased but sought by the heart, mind and soul.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vishal. Heart, mind & soul must be receptive.
DeleteYes, the bottle of happiness is right here, and always within our reach ~
ReplyDeleteYes, Grace. We need to uncork the happiness bottle :)
DeleteJust there within our reach we still search wide and far.. Such waste.
ReplyDeleteWe realize later after wasting the time :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Brudberg.
The grass is never greener on the other side, in my experience but boy is it hard to remember what we have right here in our own yard! Beautifully said!
ReplyDeleteLet's enjoy the green grass that's within our reach & be happy!
DeleteThanks for sharing, Carol :)
... it can't be bought - but are we looking in the right places?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Margaret!
DeleteNice to find you at this place :)
...ha that is truly delightful writing and a very very enjoyable rhyme scheme. Well done. Thanks for joining my prompt on Dversepoets.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your appreciation & for hosting, Abhra.

Very true and a lovely idea. But what about a old scream, sob, rant or moan from time to time!
ReplyDeleteHmm. That's the other side of the fence where I'd love to travel less often :)
DeleteThanks for sharing your interesting view, Kim!
Ah....the bottle of happiness! Love the image.....love the sentiment!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lillian. Glad you loved it :)
DeleteDefinitely sick of all the hatred in the land! Unfortunately some people are searching for the 'bottle of happiness' in the wrong place!! And with the wrong man.
ReplyDeletei want that bottle lol!
ReplyDeleteSo true, it is right there...you just have to recognize it. Appreciate it! Lovely write.
ReplyDeleteA valiant search for sure, Anita! And be ever vigilant, for we never know when we are truly happy!
