The Painting

Little did they know when the photographer took their picture that they would find themselves trapped in a painting.

They had just completed their work and were hurrying when the stranger appeared out of nowhere, armed with a huge camera and started clicking their pics that too without their permission!

None of the gentlemen loved being photographed and wanted to bash up the photographer.

However, as they were sober, they did not exhibit any violent behaviour or hatred towards him, and simply went their way. 

The photographer's friend, an artist, chose a photo that had the four gentlemen and immediately recreated an exact painting that found publication in the Arts section of the next day's newspaper.

Incidentally, the same newspaper's front-page bold headlines was-"DIAMONDS WORTH MILLIONS STOLEN!"

Browsing through the newspaper, the evolved eyes of the smart detective, in charge of the Stolen Diamonds case, further investigated about the painting as its background featured the same Bank (where the theft had occurred).

After questioning the painting's artist and the artist's photographer friend, the investigating officer was content as he had cracked the case!

When he nabbed the same four gentlemen of the painting, the diamond-thieves knew they were trapped because of the photographer.

For them, he was the stranger whom they can't forget for gifting them a life inside the jail!
