A Common Girl's Story

I am Guddi, a common girl next-door.
I face a common problem- Pimples.

It all began when I left my home & city to pursue my higher education in another city that ranks amongst the most polluted in the world.

Apart from pollution, the following reasons affected my skin in adverse ways by gifting me pimples:
1.      Lack of sleep
2.      Stress
3.      Junk Food & not balanced diet
4.      Less water-consumption
5.      Use of a new soap on my face
6.      Dandruff in my hair

My Ayee

This post is a humble tribute to my Ayee, my maternal grandmother. Today is her first death anniversary. Miss you, Ayee.

My Ayee, Shrimati Saraswati Padhy, was a force to reckon with. In  fact, she still is. Though she is no more, but she lives in our thoughts AND memories...

Things that define her

My Ayee was not an ordinary woman. She was always larger-than-life AND very enterprising.

The Ugly Skin

She was unaware that she was being watched.

She removed the ugly skin she was in, thereby revealing her real beauty that dazzled under the full-moon's light, as she sang in her melodious voice and danced magically unlike any other dancer he had seen.

Abandon The Solitude

He was happy with his beautiful wife,
and enjoyed a carefree & blissful life.

Like a butterfly on a flower, I was present on every date,
fluttering and witnessing everything lovely and intimate.

Death And Bollywood Movies

“Maut se kya darna, usey to aana hai;
Do din kee hai zindagi;  hume apna farz nibhaana hai”
-Lyrics of a song from the Hindi movie- Patthar Ke Phool
English Translation:
"Why fear death, it has to come;
Life is of two days (short); we have to do our duty."

As a child, I watched the Hindi movie- Jhuk Gaya Aasman and believed what's portrayed there as it was in tune with the stories I had heard. The hero dies and goes to the other world in a queue. There they refer to a huge book and try to locate his details- the page of his good deeds and bad deeds! That would decide his soul's future course!

The Hindi movie- Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic explains the points system with our good works adding to our score, while our evil works deducting it.

Offering

The world’s female-population had dwindled and the suitable women, a breed rare, had to be won over with  love, attention & care.

He, the lovesick guy, had taken a sick-leave from work just to cook lunch for her that Valentine’s Day & propose to her.

she wondered that morning earnestly-

Why did he ignore?
No word/kiss at the door?

Self-Actualization

Khudi ko kar buland itna ke har taqdeer se pehle
Khuda bande se khud pooche bata teri raza kya hai.”
- Allama Mohammad Iqbal

English Translation- “Empower/elevate yourself so strong/high that God Himself, before framing fate/destiny, should ask you- Tell me, what is your will/consent?”

Picture-Perfect Zeal And Zest!

I was back at home after my MBA course was over. I had a break after which the placement-interviews were to commence.

I had ordered five items- a dress, a bracelet, a pair of shoes and two suitcases from an online shopping-site.

"I love the black and white zigzag pattern on the shoes! They remind me of Zebra", my sister remarked.

"That's why I ordered them! I wish to use all this and pose for a picture and submit it for a chance to win the Travel-Junkie-contest."

I tried out my new dress, bracelet and shoes and posed atop the two suitcases. I wanted to show my zeal and zest to travel!

Flock Together!

People have different motivations to work.
But, the #1 activity on checklist they never shirk-

One act that shamelessly unites them together-
Efforts impressing their superior/leader!

Friend To Foe To Friend?

Despite being new to blogging, I won prizes.

One of my Social-Media 'friends' became my foe as she publicly accused me of plagiarism- that I have copied her ideas!

I privately tried to reason it out with her that I never copy.

She didn’t believe me & continued her allegations that affected my credibility.

Justice For Her

They were wedded & looked a lovely pair.
Their marital life had problems in its share...
She had a spat with her hubby in the flight.
Instead of home, she checked into a hotel after fight.

Hubby checked in to the same hotel the next day.
She pointed fingers at him & his ways.
She took to the social media where she had many a fan.
She accused him of relations with another woman.

Soulmates

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 50; the fiftieth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. In association with Soulmates: Love without ownership by Vinit K Bansal. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

When Lisa's groom did not turn up at the wedding, one of the guests, Asok, volunteered to marry her that date in January, in case she was willing.

Lisa said YES and Asok and Lisa were soon man and wife.

Five

What  comes to your mind when you think of the number 5 or Five?

The 5 Pandava brothers of the Mahabharata?

Or

The Letter "E", the 5th alphabet?

Or

The Letter "U", the 5th vowel?

Or

Jupiter, the 5th planet of the Solar-System?
