Letter To Mom This Diwali

Dear Mom, I miss you so much...what to say?
Though God has invited you to His heavenly abode,
I have your memories that dazzle everyday.
Distance may separate, but feelings won't erode...

I miss your phone-calls and all the love & care,
Not to forget all your yummy desserts & food....
Those constant reminders of all that you shared...
My life used to be so easy, sorted & good.

I have no clue which day we are to celebrate,
You were the one who made me access such info...
When is the festival Diwali this year, the date?
News about the extended family, I don't know...

On this festival of lights, Diwali, I missed you yet again.
Without you, Diwali With Family is sad & incomplete.
As we prayed to our departed ancestors, I felt the pain.
Showing the light to the sky I hoped to you it'll greet...

We are in different worlds, apart by unfathomable miles...
The lights'll never die; to fulfill your dreams, I'll try & fly...
I miss your warm hugs, sweet words, angelic smiles,
I know you are there as my Guardian Angel in the sky...

- With love, your daughter...

Note- Diwali or Deepavali is an important festival of India. It is called the 'Festival of Lights' as homes are decorated with lamps (Deep or Diya) and lights. Fire-crackers are burst and sweets and gifts are exchanged. There are happy celebrations. We also pray to the departed family-members...

  16. It's painful to read this. I cannot even imagine the pain which is expressed here. And the love which is evident from these stanzas is the most beautiful form of itself, the love that exist between a mother and a daughter. I loved your creation.
