Nothing Fishy

That day the catch was good,
There were many fishes in store!
I promised my group we'd have food,
Compared to other days, definitely more!

Dark Harbor, 1943, N. C. Wyeth ; Source: Magpie Tales

And when those fishermen were busy,
I, as the leader of our group, planned to pick.
My fellow-birds scooped in as it was easy!
Now each of us had a fish in our beak!

We stole their hard-work- you might feel,
But, note that the sea/fishes belong to none...
While it is they who always steal our meal,
We all have to share & live under the sun...

  1. Love the poem and the approach Anita - the seagulls do look do look prominent and aggressive . . . . . . :).

  2. I didn't know until I reached the second para :) Very well written Anita. I see the leader in the front. Yes, the sea food belongs to none. (I read it again from scratch enjoying the thoughts you penned down! )

Yes, the fishermen take away the sea-food that is eyed by the birds too :)
