I, Me And Myself


“Who am I?” I ask myself seriously.
The sands of time show a pretty reflection.
What others see isn’t the complete me...
There’s so much more than first-impression.

They can’t read my thoughts nor see my inner-beauty.
Advertisements about me don’t find expression…
The judges’ evaluation of me is far from reality!
As I’m misjudged, I can’t allow myself the transgression!  

I do unto others as I’d have them do unto me.
I’m wise, nice with sophistication despite their allegation!
I have tread many miles of journey with myself for company.
I’ll continue with confidence- sincere participation in every exploration!

    When I was young I would often wonder who I was but now that I'm older
    and, I have to say, wiser, I am quite comfortable in my own skin and indeed,
    do try to treat others as I would wish to be treated.

      May others not think wrongly of us, just basing their views on our appearance/material assets...

    I think it is both good and wise to reserve a piece of ourselves, as an inner character. It defines us from others! A very characterful poem..
