He & she got married and dreamt of a life starry
& jazzy.
They allowed life to happen to them when they were
busy.
They ran after schedules & attended to all the demands
crazy.

DeleteYes, we are largely a product of our actions!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my Blog.
DeleteYes, indeed. That's the truth. We are about the choices we make...
All the hurry
ReplyDeleteWishes we bury
Let's tarry
To breathe freely.
Live life
Sipping on the nectar.
Thanks for sharing such an apt rhyme.
DeleteVery true. I agree.
So true Anita! Happy writing... TC! Keep smiling :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sindhu! Keep smiling :)
DeleteAlas i could do it in such few words but the sad story is i can't but dearie pls pls read mine...a long one though but perhaps echoing some similar strains. i am asking for all to slow down. You know Hindi week is going on and i take time out to read some classic Hindi Poetry...and urs took me to Shri Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan jee. You know what ur poetry is just that excepting for the language...essence being the same...applause applause dear friend. Now language doesn't matter the essence does and the essence here is great too.
ReplyDeletePosting a link...Hear the son recite the poem Mr Big B himself...btw we had it in school text so we learnt it. Did you have it too...

Thank you so much for such a generous comment, Shivani!
DeleteWow!
Delighted that this poem reminded you of Shri Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan jee.
Humbled.
No, we didn't have it in our school text. They should make some works common & compulsory for all students to learn...
Oh so wonderfully written!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it, Pooja :)
DeleteNice poem, Anita! :-) loss of time can never be replaced and needs to be grieved over.
ReplyDeleteVery true, Uma. Time is important.
DeleteMany people live to work, while we should work to live.

May we work wisely & take care :)
DeleteThanks. Have a great week, Wil.
Looks like they did enjoy those years though :) Good combo of prompts!
ReplyDeleteThey were busy like the rest of us. Hope they enjoyed. But, if they did, they wouldn't grieve...
DeleteThanks Shailaja :)
"...allowing life to happen" ... makes me sad... well done on the prompts!
ReplyDeleteWelcome here, Zoe :)
DeleteYes, don't most of us allow life to happen?
You have a very good understanding of what being "too busy" can do, how it can steal our life away. This verse was done so well, and the tale is bittersweet. As I am old now, I realize how many things I missed enjoying because life has kept me so busy. But there is still time... Papa Bear and I are spending a week at the ocean next week! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Josie for your nice words.
DeleteIt is so true for most of us. We spend time & then realize what we have lost...
Yes, there is still time & hope. As long as we are alive, let us make the most :)
Great to learn about your exciting oncoming trip! Have a wonderful time :)
He he he :D .. I like the after a few years part, hair grey and memories Dizzy :D :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your appreciation, Vinay :)
DeleteYour poem clearly showed how important is to live your life, not just let it happen or else as you get older you will be saying "If only" and "I wish" a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wise words.
DeleteYes, I agree. May we all get to "live" life.
Life is short. This sad poem is a reminder of that. Time is precious, but it is so easy to let day to day life get in the way.
ReplyDeleteVery true, Val. Thanks for stopping by, reading & sharing your thoughts :)
DeleteNice one Anita. Life indeed is too short. Lately I have been actually thinking on these lines!
ReplyDeleteSo much we lose in the rat race....
Yes, Vidhya! Great minds think alike :)
DeleteMay we wisely take part in life's race...
Yes indeed, Ashwini.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your wise words & appreciation :)
We need to live our time to the fullest. This was a good lesson learnt.
ReplyDeleteYes Red. Thanks for reading :)
DeleteThis is what most of us go through in today's world. We have no time for each others and when we realize what we are doing, it's too late.

So true... and so cruel isnt'it ... "life just happened around them while ............."
ReplyDeleteyou are deep dear .... deep understanding of life ... sigh!
That's reality, dear Kokila...
DeleteHope we all understand & take care for the rest of our lives...
We do sometimes let the busyness of life steal the importance of life.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Patricia.
DeleteThen, we regret...
