The Mind Reader

I was busy staring at my Computer-screen as usual, figuring what to write for #WhatTheBlack & for #WOW of BlogAdda.

I chanced to look at my daughter.

She was seriously looking at her Maths text-book, trying to complete her home-work.

"How does one solve this problem? What is "Percentage" anyway? God knows why they give us these sums to solve!"

I realized that I had been blessed with the power to read minds!

I was now reading a school-student's mind!

Thanks to my power, I now knew what exactly was going on in my daughter's mind!

Daughter's mind: "Should I ask this to Mamma? No, as usual she's busy with her Computer! No time for me! Wonder why she spends full-time taking part in these online & Blogging contests when she doesn't even win anything!"

I wanted to butt in & protest saying- Hey! Listen, Sweetheart! I quit my job to be always there for you.... Of course, you can ask me anything! Be kind to me, dear! I did win a few prizes some months ago, remember?

But, I restrained myself as her mind was working actively!

Daughter's mind: "Wonder when she'll win a Smartphone! I better hope she does soon now that I have dropped her phone & damaged the touchscreen."

My poor damaged Smartphone is looking for a replacement...

I then thought that my gadget-lover daughter wants me to get the latest Black(colored) Smartphone!

Daughter's mind: "Had Mamma given me more attention instead of her Computer, I would have benefited & understood a large percentage of this chapter-"Percentage"..."

I felt pretty guilty. True that since last July, ever since I joined Blogging sites like BlogAdda, I have spent most of my waking hours with my Computer...

Daughter's mind: "Mamma doesn't even have time to buy the stuff that I need! When will she get the Black Print-Cartridge for our Printer? I have to complete my School-Project... I need to print..."

I then remembered that I urgently need a Black Print-Cartridge for our Printer!

Daughter's mind: "Ah! Yet another pen-refill is over. Wonder when Mamma will buy Black Ink Gel pen-refills for me... She had promised me! I have been asking her to go to the market for the last 4 days!"

Yes! Black Ink Gel Pen-Refills are much needed to fill up & give company to the empty pens!

I wanted to tell my daughter- I'll get it, dear! No worry!

But, I spoke no word as I wanted to read more of her mind...

Daughter's mind: "Oh! How I wish I had a magic hat- the big black magic hat that magicians use to pull out rabbits & ribbons! I would have used to pull out all the above things I need & would never have to bother my Mamma, who is full-time glued to her Computer...!"

What a great thought! Even I want this lovely Black(colored) Magic Hat from which I can pull out anything!

Daughter's mind: "How lovely will it be if Mamma gets Black Forest Cake for Papa's birthday!"

Today is hubby dear's birthday. A yummy Black Forest Cake will be perfect!

"Yes, dear! I plan to pick a Black Forest Cake for your Papa's birthday and Black Ink-Gel Pen-Refills & Black Print Cartridge for you now. Will get the Smartphone later. Sorry about the Magician's hat though!" I grandly announced to my daughter.

She was startled!

"Did you just read my mind, Mamma?" my daughter asked wide-eyed.

"Yes! Let me teach you the concepts about "Percentage" first. Then, I'll read your Papa's mind too! What does he want for his birthday? Does he crave Black Forest Cake too? Let me see what secrets I can unravel..." I answered with a wink! :D

  7. i get it as a mail alert all about these blogging contests but i never go through them. Seriously have no clue which contest and for what. i go through your post because as a post with or without it being a contest post is a great one. Can't write posts like this even if i wanted to. Find them entertaining sometimes, sometimes deep and comforting resonating with some of my own un typed thoughts.
Now going through this one i want to tell u this. Many a times i start speaking on the other person's behalf just because i think he or she might be thinking such and such...funny na Anita. From all you know the other person might not be thinking at all...might not be listening or maybe thinking but not on that same plane as yours. Hahahaha.
That Black Forest Cake might all be ur imagination for instance. Trust me i did it one time thinking the same only to realize he wanted something else...totally different...unimaginatively different. It would've made him happier although he didn't complain and was kind with a formal and courtesies laced thank you and blah blah but you know it don't you. Many days later in one of the conversations rather arguments he spilled the beans...hahahaha.
    Enjoyed this one too.
But it scares me Anita when i come to think of it...what if someone could...Read ur mind...spooky for me, how about you???

    1. Thanks Shivani for your candid & heartfelt comment :)
You are too modest...I'm sure you can write great posts for contests!
I can totally identify with the thought-resonation as it has happened many times with me too.
Yes, we try to be mind-readers and guess & judge, and then realize what the other person really wanted...!
It is sweet when others accept our offering without complaints! Strengthens bonds :)

There is a Hollywood Movie- 'What Women Want'. That shows the advantages/disadvantages of reading minds! :)
If we can really read minds, we will know the truth & how people put on a 'fake act'. Will remove the masks that people wear. But, how many of us can tolerate/accept the truth?! :)
