My Views On Religion

For me, religion is what we believe & cling on.
We 'support' as we 'belong' having been 'born'...

If we are born in one religion, but are raised in another,
We'll be like the Hindi movie- Amar Akbar Anthony brothers!

If we have faith, we worship pictures/idols/pebbles as Gods.
Yet crazy fanatics do opposite of what has been taught by the Lords.

Why the fight when all religions have the same goals & path?
In the name of religion, why the unhappiness & the bloodbath?

Being humane, good, kind... is what all religions preach,
The Language Of Love & peace is what all religions teach...

May there be no barrier of religion as faith unites us all...
May we together 'rise' with religion, than be divided & 'fall'...

Festivals like Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra welcome everyone.
May we all be a part of all the global celebrations under the Sun...

Last month I spoke to two women in Inter-Religion-Love-Marriage,
I realized- Religion No Bar - be liberal, understanding & give space...

May we feel at home as our religion can never change our blood's colour...
Why over-rate/over-hype & dilute the essence of religion & make it duller?

This is my poem with my views on religion for IndiSpire Edition-21

Wish religions wouldn't be controversial as they are now. That's not the reason why they came into being in the first place...

No religious divide as everyone is united by faith & pray to the Lord of the Universe- Shree Jagannath...
      Incredible India!

  7. u have doubts. good . many have none. becoz they know.
they know the power of religion. to divide and hate.
to hate and kill. kill and win. win and keep all for themselves.
it is not the common man who is against religion not his own.
he is made to play the role by forces which he cant oppose.
it is the manipulator who has no doubts. so your doubts or mine
can cast no spell on him. he is god and owns all religions.
cross not his path. he can even make you and me hate and fight.

    1. Very true, Sir.
Much of the problems are due to the Manipulators who cause the hatred & wars for their vested interests.
What happiness do they get by 'winning' using such lowly tactics?

  16. Religion is man made and subject to interpretation. All interpretation leads to same conclusion. In the end, everything becomes one.

    1. Exactly sir. There is no relationship between God and religion. Religions were created by humans to control masses, to fulfill different agendas at different times.

  18. I have totally different view on religion , Ithink there should be NO religion.. look at what is going on in the world in the name of relgion.. More people have died because or in the name of religion then an Atom bomb ..

    One religion - Humankind ..

so many problems will go away from the world if religion goes away

  23. I guess, my first attempt to comment on this post failed. :)

I think that most of us actually do not follow religion truly. Religions are manipulated for personal interests and to attain power.

Not many would choose such a topic and share their views so openly. I congratulate you for being so honest and creative while expressing. :)

    1. Yes, that's a problem even I am facing a lot these days, Namrata. My carefully typed comments disappear/get failed...dunno why. Was planning to write a post on this :)

Very true that religions are manipulated for vested interests like wealth & power... But, that's not the purpose of religion. Sadly, we are to blame...

Thanks Namrata for such kind words :) With the recently concluded Rath Yatra, I wanted to convey its universal message...

  27. Do al religions really hav the same goal and path?...I have visited temple, mosque n church accompanying my friends, n something I noticed at al is each proclaim its religion to be the One n their God the One. I acknowledge ur intension is noble, but isnt it that, to be truly religious would be to buy their doctrine as binding n thus discount the other Gods. Isnt religion inherently intolerant?

    1. Thanks for stopping by & sharing your views. Even I have visited all the places of worship.
What I found common is- FAITH.

All religions preach the same- love & brotherhood concepts & also 'God is One' & that we may call Him by any name... The founder-proponents of all the religions always had noble intentions. No one advocated killings...
It is unfortunate that along the way, their zealous followers have caused such terrifying metamorphosis...

  28. Faith, yes, but as toward wat? They al propose to praise n sing hymns in glorification of their deity. N few specifically claim that its not ur good intensions or proper deeds or actions tat wil save 'ur soul' but the grace of God which is to be won by glorifying his name. It seems unfair. Shouldnt the notion of deservance be there in religion too?

N I disagree wit ur point that they al preach 'God is one'. It would be nice if they did, ideal actually. N despite I as much want to believe it to be true, they preach not 'God is One', but that 'Their God is The One'.

    1. But, religions do believe in the 'karma', All religions teach us to be kind and perform noble works like charity & helping others... Even the Bible & Quran have similar teachings.
The children of God & those who gave religious discourses (without vested interests) like Buddha, Kabir, Sai Baba etc have shared lofty ideals & lessons. If we are not following, we are to blame...

From what I have read and from my upbringing, I believe in the concept of one God & respect everyone. I get the same feeling of faith & reverence when I enter a Temple/Church/Mosque to pray..even at the Bahai Temple, where there is no idol...
Your last line is true for some bigots...unfortunately these few poison the peace.

In this lifetime, we 'belong' to 1 religion. Maybe in past lifetimes we belonged to some other & in the future, it'll differ.
May be some day Society will be so evolved that Humanity will be the religion as most Bloggers have shared...

  30. Excellent :) Religion, oh, how much we can all write on this one topic now :D What, how, why and so much more. Indeed, why let it muddle up, which is what the 'power brokers' do! They manipulate us,make us fight and mistrust each other so that their handle on power is never in danger. They feed off us. So instead of religion, let us focus on Faith. That cornerstone of believing in something greater than us! Love the post, as always so poignant and beautiful :)
