She had seen this view hundreds of times before.
Earlier the ground appeared like a Toyland!

But, today, the same view made her heart pound wildly.
She questioned herself, "Why did I even board this jet-flight? Is this my destiny this fateful day?"
Two men on the aircraft were ordering everyone.
Her friends had lined up near the door.
"It's your turn next, lady!"
"Now JUMP!"
She muttered a silent prayer, "It’s God's will now..."
She experienced the free-fall and its impact...
She managed to hold her friends’ hands as they formed the pattern in the air...
Maiden Sky-Diving joy!

Dear Anita,
ReplyDeletePlease assure me they have parachutes. Good build up of tension with a great payoff at the end. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
They do have parachutes, Rochelle! They are Sky-Diving!
DeleteThis was her first experience. Hence the tension :)
Thanks for your motivating words.
You completely flipped my view on what was happening, and really smoothly as well. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my Blog, Carol!
DeleteThanks for sharing such kind words :)
Our minds, unfortunately, are yet to recover from the recent aviation disasters and terrorism...
I like the story concept, was tempted to do something similar. On a side note, I felt that the flow of the story was a little "Jumpy". Please excuse the pun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by & sharing your views.
DeleteGreat minds think alike :) Sometimes we need just that- to be jumpy :) Perks us up!
Welcome here. Hope to see you more often!
Hhaha... you know what i love watching certain adventure stuff more than doing them. Woof...about skydiving...well mine would pound too. Anita but what if the parachute gets conked out...what if my hand slipped off. Not death...not scared of death...it's the painful death that maybe makes our hearts pound with fear na. When they have a system when someone can keep holding on and it is like fevisticked. i would love to do it too.
ReplyDeleteBtw just saw Kick the other day first day first show...and guess what i came out smiling because i got my second lesson from the movie apart from what Salman Bhai advocated. Which is...and these are my words not anyones...i proclaim it through ur comment box to the world..." ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA DOSTON SO GET UR KICKS IN WHICHEVER WAY YOU WANT BUT DO IT FOR A CAUSE.'' hhhhhhhaaaa said it...released it...what do u say Anita...no i did not wink...i am serious. :) :) :)
Very nicely shared, Shivani.
DeleteYes, when we are not afraid of death, then our hearts won't pound. Immaterial whether the parachute opens or not... Whether the Sky-Diving is successful or not...
I watched Kick yesterday on Eid & am in the process of writing my review & lessons :)
Thanks for sharing your wonderful takeaway from the cool movie. I am serious too :)
great imagery drawn with words, nicely written
ReplyDeleteIndia In Danger?
Thanks for reading & for your appreciation, Cifar :)
DeleteI'm sure she got a t-shirt that said, "I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane." Nice work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the appreciation :)
DeleteYes, your T-shirt message idea is great.
More- "I conquered my fear!" or "Now I JUMP in JOY as I jumped out of the plane & wasn't coy!" :)
My heart pounded as I read the story, phew! Great tension build up, Anita. Have you ever gone skydiving?
ReplyDeleteThe way we get involved, Kiran! Thanks :)
DeleteNo, not done it as yet. Do I have the guts to go for Sky-Diving? Never say never:)
You had me fooled. Me, of all people. ;) Well done.
ReplyDeleteWelcome here, Sandra :)
DeleteThanks for sharing your nice words of appreciation!
Actually, these are trying times for our world with so many Aviation & Terrorism issues... Anyone can be misled... We can hope & pray...
Anita, I don't see my first comment so I'll try again. Well written story with good description. I'm glad you conquered your fear. Well done. : ) ---Susan
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan for reading & for your appreciation :)
DeleteHere the heroine of the story conquered her fear! I am yet to Sky-Dive :)
I'm so scared of doing this! I hope I can conquer my fears too some day!
ReplyDeleteCount me in, Soumya :) Hopefully, "we shall overcome some day" :)
DeleteLovely twist. I was sure they were about to die.
ReplyDeleteWelcome here, Alicia :)

That is brave! I would probably want to be over a big field in case I got sick on the way down. :p But if I don't think about it too much, it sounds WONDERFUL!

ReplyDeleteThanks Sreeja :) Glad you liked it!

Hi Anita, nice take on the prompt. Good job on the fiction. At first I thought it was terrorists who were forcing her to jump :P Your title stands true for real life as well, we need to look at our fears and just jump.
ReplyDeleteEloquent Mind (http://momentsilike.blogspot.com)

I want to try this....it's on my bucket list!! Great write! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Aditi :)
DeleteGo for it! Best wishes :)
We went in nearly identical directions, Anita, mine much later than yours! I never read any others before I write, but often find something similar. I think that bulls-eye was a nudge in the same direction. I like the way you built up tension here, but ended on a positive note. I was afraid this was a terrorist act– and relieved it was for fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn for stopping by! Welcome here :)
DeleteThis has happened scores of times with me. Ditto! Even I don't read other entries before posting mine. But, many times I have found idea similarity. Sometimes, people have written what i was planning to write :)
We think alike! We are birds of a feather :)
I love positive or happy endings.
We have had enough of terrorism. Sick & tired of the sad news...
Dear Anita, Good story and I never read the stories either but this week I was really late in posting. I really like your story and glad it was not a terrorist attack. Good job! Nan :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Nan :)
DeleteI am very glad to hear from you. Great that you liked my story!
Something I WILL NOT BE DOING, but good for the heroine.
ReplyDeleteROG, ABCW
Never say Never, Roger :)
DeleteYes, great for the heroine!
