My Mermaid

There was a sparkle in his eyes.

I sensed my creation’s cries.

I knew my mermaid has power.

I realized art metamorphoses man into robber.

As insanity gripped him, I watched shocked.

Note- If you’re on your way, my mermaid is locked...

  1. Wow, Anita. Sadly, art does sometime evoke greed instead of appreciation.

    1. Yes, Kiran. There are thieves all around. But, a great work of art can tempt & turn even a normal person into a thief! :)

When I think of Mermaid, I think of the FairyTale- Little Mermaid & the statue to commemorate Hans Christian Anderson. Glad you liked my poem :)

  5. this mermaid is not for sale...it was one of the things I thought when I started writing. It's a treasure and not on the market.

Yes, man's intentions get spoilt the moment he finds something that's worth it...

That's what art does to the artist as she is in tune with her masterpiece...

  12. Wow, this is wonderful. I love the point of view of the creator.

And I also love that it's near impossible to steal it from him

    1. Welcome to my Blog! Thanks for your wonderful words.
The creator has safely kept her work of art lest it be stolen or tempt the intentions of onlookers :)

  16. You are a great writer Anita, but, frankly, I didn't understand what was this poem about.... :( Hmmm, hope to gain more knowledge to understand poems better... In fact, I look for meanings of many words after reading your posts :) Ummm, I believe that is the way to grow :) And, you are helping me grow!

    TC! Keep smiling :)

    1. Oh Ok! Never mind, Sindhu! Actually, I haven't shared the prompt & hence you have faced the difficulty to understand.
This poem was for the prompt- "Are you on your way to steal my mermaid?"
I have tried to answer the above question. If you are on your way to steal my awesome work of art- a pretty mermaid statue, then I have kept it locked as it's so amazing that people try to steal it the moment they see it!!!
A great work of art can turn a sane person insane and a good man into a thief :)

Sindhu, thanks for such nice words. Yes, we are all helping one another to grow.
Even I love the lovely company & feel blessed :)
