I present the beautiful state of Odisha for the Letter O of the Alphabet for ABC Wednesday this week.
Odisha is a state that is situated in Eastern India, near the Bay of Bengal.
It has awesome beaches and natural beauty.

Craftsmen in the erstwhile capital of Odisha, Cuttack, and in other parts of Odisha make such intricate designs and amazing jewellery using Silver.

This is a rare Lord Ganesha in ivory circa 14th-15th Century, made in Odisha & now displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, USA.
Sage Bharata's Natya Shastra - 2nd century CE, speaks of Odra Magadhi, Odissi dance of Odisha. It is very graceful & known as "Sculpture in motion".
Sudarshan Pattnaik is a famous Sand-Artist of Puri, Odisha, who has won many Gold Medals in International Sand-Art Competitions all over the world.
This picture is a collage of the Chilika Lake in Ganjam, Odisha, which is the largest brackish water lake in Asia. Its beauty is spell-binding.
Odisha is famous for many Arts & Crafts. The above is Saura Art. Such art is even common in some homes during weddings and other important occasions.

Deleteduring these 4yr of my stay here i have learnt a lot about odisha .. especially its culture and heritage .. i just wish food to be better just saying or may be its mess food that has made me to think in that way !
ReplyDeleteOdisha food is awesome. You must taste the local delicacies especially the seafood preparations like- Sorisha Maccha (Mustard Fish) etc. Lots of special dishes available.

DeleteYes, beats me why there's name-change as we have studied about Orissa in school & not many are aware of the name-change to Odisha. I feel it affects a place as all old maps, Atlas & info still refer to Orissa...

I am From Andhra but traveled in Orissa extensively.I would say one thing in nutshell.Odisha did not get its due on publicity front for unknown reasons.It's original nature reflects in its dance,handicrafts,sculpture and in other so many facts.The problem is with most of its so called educated (not all) people,they always tend to speak Hindi at the cost of Odiya.They don't believe that they are valued.Only very few states are competent in terms of fine arts,with Odisha.India is one & not to be divided anymore on any lines.for more Odisha facts and on going issues,try this side:www.orissamatters.com

DeleteIt is true that Odisha has not got her due. Odisha has amazing wonders, arts & crafts and deserves more tourists, attention & credit. Actually, Odia people are simple & accommodating and converse in the language of the tourists to make them feel more comfortable. Not many states can boast of such inclusive spirit.

He keeps posting such absurd comments in various sites. In a wiki map of Assamese town of Lumding, he wrote "The Famous Kamonasish Aayush Mazumdar was born here". Although I think he is making himself infamous instead of famous.
Mr. Kamonasish Aayush Mazumdar: There are several other pieces of heritage that we are proud of (ancient Sisupalgarh, emperor Kharavela, poet Jayadeva, Konark temple, Puri temple, Khandagiri/Udayagiri, Chitanya Mahaprabhu, Puspagiri University, maritime glory of Kalinga), but yes, we will definitely latch on to what Anita listed in her excellent blog. As an Odia and an India I am proud of my rich heritage.

The employments of present day science can be seen and felt in regular day to day existence and wherever on the planet. In plants and processing plants, businesses, farming, medicinal, transport correspondence wherever we can see the employments of present day science. Cutting edge progress would grind to a halt it there was no power. Life would confront its extraordinary emergencies if the advanced enhancements of life are dismissed. Agrarian and mechanical advancement has been conceivable due to present day science. Indeed we can't live or manage without science. Truly this post is usefull for us.

Truth be told, we scarcely know much we owe to science in the day by day issues of our life. An existence without advanced science can't be imagined today. Present day science resemble Aladdin's light. It doesn't what should be inconceivable yesterday. Where it will end no one can state, yet this much can be incomprehensible yesterday. Where it will end no one can state, however this much can be said that it will continue working and making a great deal more ponders in the days to come. Truly this post is usefull for us.
