"Do Without Make-up" was her Mantra as she never used make-up thereby allowing several cosmetics & beauty-products that she had been gifted or she had won as prizes, to languish in her drawer unused, leave alone getting worn out from overuse!
But, today, everything was decked up and there was celebration in the air and everyone wanted her to get all dressed up as the suitable boy & his family were coming to see her for marriage ...
She debated with herself what she would do - listen to her family that voiced the society's demand to appear presentable or just obey her mind & heart that detested such show-business as she had always loved to sport her true colours and feathers...
When she made her choice, she felt light and happy as she had decided to be true to herself & present the person she actually is rather than a fake, painted & made-up doll that she is not & never will be!
The lines of a famous Hindi Movie-Song- "Tum ko dekha, to ye khayal aaya..." (When I saw you, I got this feeling...) played in the mind of her suitor as he was completely bowled over by her simplicity, honesty and beautiful personality that impressively shone bright, as he was even a bird of the same feather who wished to flock together ...

Nothing like being natural especially when one is charming.Sometimes a bit of touch up lightly adds to the good effect.
ReplyDeleteTrue Sir. But, it was her choice. She loved simplicity. Nice that her would-be groom also believed in the same, else had he wanted a made-up & extra-smart bride, he'd have to look for someone who loved make-up!
DeleteNo amount of cosmetics can make a person nice/good :)
interesting weave. and yes, a bit of touch up enhances one's beauty.. :)
ReplyDeleteTrue Meera. But, there is this rare population that presents itself the way it is.
DeleteBeauty lies in the beholder's eyes!
Beautifully etched and crisp writing, Anita, Totally love it and it's magical:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Vishal for your kind words :) Glad you liked it!
DeleteLovely lines! Yes, I agree with you and it must be remembered that after marriage girls/women spend most of their time in kitchen and with kids and not (say never) with make up sets or mirror :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! very true, Uma :) Better be close to reality!
DeleteWell written.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my Blog! Thanks :)
DeleteBrilliant way of combining prompts :) Simplicity is the best make up ....
ReplyDeleteThanks Sushree :) Agree!
DeleteSo fortuitous that they agree on the makeup thing. Personally, I use it once every few years as the mood strikes. I don't have time to waste on it every day.
ReplyDeleteWe share a similar view about make-up, Alice! I last used it last year for the photo-shoot for a magazine cover :)
DeleteThanks for visiting my Blog! Do stop by often :)
Beautiful. The way you combine the prompts!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Delighted you like my attempts :)
DeleteAwesome!!! Getting a bird of same feather to flock up with is like a dream come true. And this feather image is perfectly in sync with the story..I loved it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Akrati! True! Hope everyone gets this fate! :)
DeleteThree prompts in one - very impressive! I liked the flow of this, and I'm glad she chose to go au naturel in the end.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! Actually 4 prompts together :)
DeleteLovely that you visited my Blog and shared your comment :)
I agree. simplicity is best. But I also don't mind girls using a bit of touch ups for special occasions. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anmol :) Touch ups needed sometimes too based on the occasions :)
DeleteVery lucky that she got someone who liked her as she is. Nice story!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting :)
DeleteYes, nice when we get people who like us as we are :)
Some times (or rather most of the time) less make up is more attractive. This is one of the reasons why "Queen" was a success. The heroine was made to use minimal make up.
ReplyDeleteYes Haddock. I loved Rani of Queen too for her simplicity :)
DeleteMake-up depends on the users & the reaction on the beholders actually :)
Four prompts, eh? You are really pushing your limits :) Well done. I liked the likening of the person to the bird. Nice touch.
ReplyDelete~Shailaja's post
Hee hee, Sailaja! 4 birds with 1 stone, no 4 prompts with 1 Post! :)
DeleteGlad you liked my attempt :)
Bird metaphor. Hmmm. Not a bad idea for the FF prompt.

I think being yourself is the right way to go..
ReplyDeleteThanks Bjorn for stopping by. Welcome to my Blog!
DeleteThing is- we must be comfortable with what we present, lest people accept our fake self as real!

Great! I too feel, however beautiful one might be, artificial make up or expressions spoil the beauty. And if you find the one, who chooses you for what you are, you are the luckiest! I am happy that she found the one! As always completely mesmerised with your creativity and expression!

DeleteYes, lucky are such people who do not have to 'compromise' on their values or likes :)
Not everyone has the courage or confidence-glad that she had and the prospective groom saw her true beauty:-)Well written Anita:-)

Thanks Atreyee for visiting my Blog & for your appreciation.
DeleteWonderful indeed when true-worth/beauty is recognized :)
Everything which needed to be said, has already been said. There's no need for me, coming as late as I did, to echo what has been has before. It would no more than a pure redundancy which is something I can live with, and have no remorse in remaining silent.
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much for stopping by & sharing :) Appreciate it :)
