It was the first day of work for him,
As an archaeologist, he found her there.
He was dumbstruck by her beauty.
Her face, complexion, figure, her hair...
How would he focus on the 'site'?
When he was treated to beauty so rare...
There was an unmistakable familiarity,
He wanted to caress her cheeks & her hair...
The wind blew as if taking a cue to play,
The tattoo on her neck peeped with flair!
He had seen that tattoo before!
If only he could remember where.
He couldn't sleep the whole night,
When he did, he dreamt of a fair...
There was an old Temple by the sea,
The merry fair was taking place there...
Someone was calling... His room-mate!
"Hey! Get Ready! Not a minute to spare!
Have to start right away for work.
At the site, before noon, we've to be there!"
He awoke, was ready in time to board the bus,
She looked radiant; he couldn't help but stare.
They reached their destination by the sea.
He thought, "Oh! Isn't this the same fair?"
His dream was true- there was the Temple...
Amazed to see the fair was taking place there...
They walked into the Temple, the bells rang,
There was an aura of mystery in the air...
He had seen the Goddess's idol before,
"The Deja vu! So Familiar! Wonder where...
Looks like I have known this place for ages,
As though I have a connection pure & rare..."
Then he saw the PattaChitra* on the Wall,
Strangely she had also joined him to admire...
There was the same design of the tattoo displayed!
He swept her hair & compared it with the figure there!
She was jolted from stupor by his hungry touch,
As if she had just woken up and longed for his care...
They were lost in the detailed story & reality,
When the Temple's old Priest called the pair...
They looked up to find the Priest looking shocked,
Tears were rolling down his cheeks seeing them together.
"You both returned! I always knew you would..."
The two- the 'couple' were now under everyone's glare.
Turned out a case of reincarnation- past lovers had united
For their eternal love-story with lovely moments to share...

DeleteOMG, chills went through my body reading this....I think even if I wasn't provided the constraint of 100 words, I wouldn't have been able to do justice to the post as you have done....On the other hand, it seems like I have stolen words from your poem-story! So sorry, hope you trust me on that. I seriously had no idea that you had a post on that already....
ReplyDeleteThe only difference between yours and mine was in my re-incarnation the prince is reborn as a women!
Kudos to you Anita that this made as the WOW post....
Thanks Vidhya for such nice words!
DeleteJust Chill! Can't suspect :) That's what some low-grade people, lacking in creativity, do.
I simply despise those who indulge in such shameless acts.
Anyways, the idea of reincarnation doesn't belong to us... Anyone is free to write on it.
There have been many many movies & books.
Have you read- 'Many Lives, Many Masters'?
May be people have written similar stories as your's & mine... Great minds think alike :)
We'll find out eventually or perhaps not...
