THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

Simi was crying as her doll was broken.

Simi’s Grandma came and consoled her,

“Don’t cry, dear! This too shall pass! When I was a little girl and I was crying over my broken doll, my Grandma had told me this story…

Let me share the story with you-

Long ago there was a King who set a tough task to be accomplished. The King had made announcements that he wanted someone or something that can ‘make a crying person laugh and a laughing person cry’. Many people tried to get such a thing that would serve the purpose, but failed in their attempt to please the King. But, one man took the help of his smart wife. She wrote just a tiny sentence on a piece of paper and asked her husband to hand over the same to the King. The man kept the chit inside a box and reached the King's chamber. The moment the King opened the box and saw the chit, he realized the significance and power of these four words in the small sentence...

The King, who was very happy till then, suddenly became very grave and pensive after reading the wise words that were written there-
This too shall pass!’.
The King immediately understood the deep meaning. He knew his good times as a King won’t last long… Indeed, if a person is happy, he’ll be upset after realizing that happiness will pass away as it’s just a guest for a while! While if someone is sad, he will be happy that better times will come. After all,  tough times don’t last, but tough people do!"

Simi's Grandma ended the story.

"So, did you see? Nothing lasts forever, dear! Why worry or cry over a broken doll?” , she asked Simi.

Simi's Grandma had given Simi a lesson- a valuable gift for life.
Simi adopted her Grandma’s Mantra seriously and lived her life wisely. It guided her wonderfully through the ups and downs and the smiles and frowns that life subjects all of us to…

When close people like her parents and husband passed away, she maintained her composure. Simi knew- ‘Time is the greatest healer’ and all will be well soon.

Many years later, Simi was a grand old lady.

One fine day, Simi’s grand-daughter, Mini was playing with her doll, when it broke…Mini started howling!

“Don’t cry, dear! This too shall pass!... When I was a little girl and I was crying over my broken doll, my Grandma had told me this story… Let me share the story with you…”

It was now Simi’s turn to share and "pass" on her Grandma’s Mantra!
This too shall pass!
